Mediterranean Coastal Airlines Registers First Twin Otter

Mediterranean Coastal was first established in Valletta, Malta on 12-Sep-2019, with primary shareholders being European Sea Plane Service GmbH, RJB Aviation Consulting GmbH, and Sergio Nuñez-Cacho. On 08-Mar-2023 the company registered its first Twin Otter, MSN 557 on the Malta Civil Aircraft register as 9H-PALMA. The explosive growth of the Maltese register in recent years has seen hundreds of aircraft transferred to the 9H- prefix, with the authorities now permitting the five character suffixes as seen on MSN 557.

Tropicair (PNG) Receives first Twin Otter Series 400

Port Moresby based Tropicair received their first DHC-6-400 (MSN 895) two days ago, following a delivery flight that originated at Toronto’s Buttonville airport (CYKZ) on 14-Mar-2021. Although it is the first -400 series, Tropicair already operates one DHC-6-300 (MSN 480), and one DHC-6-300X2 (MSN 542). The aircraft will be used on general charter and contract work in PNG.

Maldivian Accident Investigation Coordinating Committee Final Report for 8Q-MBC

The Maldivian AICC has issued their final report into the accident involving DHC-6-300 8Q-MBC (MSN 256) on 13-Nov-2021, when it struck a water bungalow on take-off at the Finholu Resort. The file is in PDF format.

In mid-2022 I promised to launch a series of functional and content improvements to the Twin Otter World Database. The Legacy series models were completed and switched over on 27-Dec-2022. The 400 series models were then integrated on 06-Mar-2023. Till now, I had not actually formally announced the site improvements - so now is the time!

What’s Improved

1. Every MSN reviewed, line by line for any corrections, and then updated to current.

2. Updated (but familiar) page style.

3. Review of all company names to ensure commonality across site (assisting search results)

4. Addition of quick year of manufacture, engine installation, and current status box to every MSN.

5. Review and update of all previous images, making all a uniform size and caption content/style.

6. All images one-click lightbox format to full size.

7. 2,000+ new images added - totaling approximately 7,500 across the website

8. Added “RETURN TO TOP” function on each page.

9. Major improvement to page load timing “MASTER INDEX BY MSN”.

10. Newly created “MSN LOOKUP” page, with over 4000 Twin Otter registrations and their MSN’s.

11. Added “LATEST UPDATES” page capturing all updates to the site, with direct links when applicable.

12. Added “SEARCH” function to all pages, improving ease of use and getting better results (used over 3,000 times in two months)

13. Added “PHOTO UPLOAD” page and functionality – a quick and easy method to contribute.

Updating previous entries; continued on delivery Boise, ID - North Las Vegas, NV - Santa Maria, CA - Hilo, HI - Majuro - Port Moresby 14/21-Mar-2023. The aircraft was recently sold to Montrose Global Aircraft Leasing, and is destined for Tropicair in Papua New Guinea.

The delivery flight was operated by World Wide Ferry.
