DHC-6-400 N153QS Crashes in the Pacific, west of Half Moon Bay, California

DHC-6-400 MSN 869 N153QS was lost yesterday in the Pacific, approximately 50km west of Half Moon Bay, California. It had earlier departed from Santa Rosa, CA at 08:21 Local on a ferry flight to Honolulu, HI, but had turned back again before crashing short of the destination at Half Moon Bay, CA at 14:15 Local.

Sadly, both pilots onboard received fatal injuries.

N153QS was operated by Seafly LLC, of Palo Alto, CA and was returning to the South Pacific following an extended period operating in the Caribbean and Central America. The ferry flight across the Pacific was being flown by a U.S. based contractor.
