India’s Flybig Surrenders Aircraft to Lessors

On 15-Nov-2023, Indian regional carrier announced it had surrendered their three ATR-72 to their owners, after having suspended operations earlier this month. It is expected that the the same fate will befall the two DHC-6-400’s they lease, of which only one is in service, but was still flying as of 16-Nov-2023.

On 17-Nov-2022 however, the company said it would move the DHC-6-400 aircraft to replace the ATR-72’s on routes connecting Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Whether that comes to pass is anyone’s guess.

It was only six months ago that Flybig signed a Letter of Intent to acquire 2 DHC-6-400’s and 10 new DHC-6-300-G aircraft from the manufacturer. This replaced a previous Letter of Intent for 10 DHC-6-400’s. Only one of new DHC-6-400’s was delivered to the company, while the second remains at the manufacturer in Calgary, AB.
