Island Aviation Takes Delivery of First DHC-6 Series 400

 

The first DHC-6-400 for Island Aviation Inc. in the Philippines touched down in Manila on 11-May-2023 following an uneventful 5 day crossing of the Pacific. a second aircraft is expected to follow. The aircraft will be used to shuttle guests from Manila to the Amanpulo Resort, located in Cuyo Islands in the Sulu Sea, and seen in the photo below.

The company is no stranger to the Twin Otter, having operated several legacy models until the early 2000’s.

 
 

Air Tuvalu Receives First Twin Otter

 

The first aircraft ever registered to the Government of Tuvalu arrived at Funafuti International Airport on Thursday, 11-May-2023. A ceremony marking the event is expected to take place Friday 12-May-2023, after which the aircraft will depart to Fiji for final preparations. It will enter service in Oct-2023, by which time the Tuvalu government will have had opportunity to improve infrastructure on the islands.
